GEAR to Mt7 Lookout Shuttle - 2011

A shuttle service for paraglider pilots will be running this summer on weekends from the tandem parking lot at the landing area. A minimum of 5 people is required. Vehicle is a large surburban with rack for paragliders.

Check the FlyGolden weather page: http://flygolden.ca/weather.htm Another web cam link has been added that offers a view of the sky to the NW when viewed along the Golden commercial strip on the Trans Canada Highway.

PS - The big Canadian Flag at the Husky station is visible near the middle of the picture - indicates what the wind is actually doing vs what the forecast says it is doing.

Should be seeing a lot more of this stuff with everyone using HERO sport cams now. Things have come a long way since recording early 90's pg flights with a "two hands required" film camera hanging off your harness!

If you are planning a trip to Golden check out the Weather links on the Flygolden.ca Weather Page. On that page you can access the web cams located a Kicking Horse Mountain Resort to look at the sky in real time. Be sure to check the Hour by Hour Forecast link on the page as I have found it to be quite accurate relative to some other forecasts. It also presents the forecast in a cool, easy to read graphical format.

2011 Event Dates of Note

2011 Flying Events scheduled for Golden this summer:

• July 9-16/2011 Hang Gliding Nationals
• July 18-22/2011 Paragliding Nationals
• July 23-31/2011 Annual "Willi" X/C Challenge
• End-of-Season Fun Fly-in: The Golden Glassoff - dateTBA -usually end of September.
  

As usual all of the above events will be based at the Muller Flight Park, which is the official Mt.7 LZ at the Golden Eco Adventure Ranch RV & Camping Park in Nicholson.
