THE 2008 WILLI

A MESSAGE FROM THE MEET DIRECTORS

It's time again for pilots to book their holidays for the Willi at Golden B.C.  July 26th to August 3rd. It is also time to book your campsites as the campground will fill up quickly-book early!

This is a relaxed Competition open to all levels of pilots- both Hang Gliding and Paragliding.

Mount Seven is a world class well developed flying site with a two wheel drive to launch. The landing area is a huge groomed field right next to GEAR camping and headquarters for the meet.

This year's comp will be run by myself and Serge as joint Competition Directors. It is great to divide the load up and Serge is doing a great job. Competition rules and site info are available at Serge's website at: http://sergewebservice.ca/seven/wmxcc.html

Now the scary part- WE NEED VOLUNTEERS. I have been asking around and have been getting that blank staring look. Come on pilots-it's your meet and I don't cook breakfast.  A fill in sheet will be put up at GEAR so you can fill it in while you are out there, or put in your name in on-line. We will try to keep this list updated on line. Act quickly, as I am sure the spots will fill up quickly. I am trying to get local sponsors to donate gift certificates. All volunteers' names will be entered into a draw at the wind up BBQ on August 3rd.

The following prestige volunteer positions are open at this time.

PILOT REGISTRATION PACKAGES: FILLED-DOUG KELLER

SCORING:  FILLED-SERGE LAMARCHE.

SAFETY OFFICER: Monitor radio, co-ordinate with local RCMP etc. if needed. Hold a FSR Radio-good for a spouse or a pilot that flies in am.

WEATHER DUDE: Get weather report and post at breakfast, prior to 10:00am pilots meeting. Print out at Gear office available.

PILOT CONTROL: Have pilots report to you at the end of the day-to make sure everyone gets back ok. Co-ordinate with Scoring assistant. Probably one half  hour or less each evening –7'til 9:00pm or so. Report to Meet Director and Safety Director.

REGISTRATION: Friday July 25th , 6:00pm-8:00pm-includes food!  Saturday July 26th 10:00am-includes breakfast. Help Karen with Registration-Easy.

PARA LAUNCH DIRECTOR: Work with launch director to co-ordinate safe launches. Will limit time on launch-your choice.

TASK COMMITTEE: One for Hangs and one for Paras. Pilots in the meet preferred.

BREAKFAST COOKS AND COFFEE MAKER: One day commitment for one hour. Make coffee and pancakes-you will get lots of help. Pilots will help clean up.

Get those names in – don't forget to volunteer your spouses etc. I did.

I've added a couple of categories and we have a lot of good volunteers that will come forward as well as those Hang and paradrivers.

ANY DONATIONS FOR PRIZES WOULD BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.

THANK YOU TO GEAR AND MULLER WINDSPORTS : www.mullerwindsports.com, FOR THEIR SUPPORT AGAIN THIS YEAR.

Let me know at karenkeller@shaw.ca

Thanks everyone.
