2010 Easter Panorama Meet
Dear Elevated Companions!
The weather looks great for flying, fresh snow this week at Panorama (just west of Invermere) combines to create another successful Pano Event!
Max and Penny have returned very recently to Canada and look forward to seeing everyone out at Pano this weekend. Registration for the event will be at 9:00am Friday and 9:00am Saturday in the main lodge. Friday night Max will be doing a presentation on his Red Bull X-Alps experience last summer. This expected to take place Friday night around 9:00 up at Panorama. Location and details to be announced at the event.
If you have never been to the Pano Easter meet - it is lots of fun. We launch off the ski hill with our skis (and snowboards for those daring people). There are points for time in the air, target drop of the Easter Egg (bag of snow), and of course the coveted Target Landing!! It's really not about the competition, but having fun and lots of laughs! And if the weather isn't flyable (to date this rarely happens) we snowboard and ski and drink!
Saturday evening entails hanging out in the bar, the highly competitive boat races and tray racing down the ski hill during the night!
This weekend there is also the 'Easy Rider Cup', so lots going on!!
I really hope to see you out there either participating or cheering everyone on!

x-Alps fundraiser fun and x-country competition
The road to Mt. Swansea will already be open so let's do some flying. We will have a little fun competition and a fundraiser for the x-Alps 2009 team (Max & Penny). There will be a party held at Frank's "mansion", with a live band and a presentation from Max. Camping/accommodation will be available at Frank's and Max & Penny's place.
May 2009 – Access Road Condition
Checked out the condition of the Mt-7 access road on the first weekend in May. Snow is blocking safe access to the 9k “Lower Launch” in the shadow section right after the cut-off at 8k. Some vehicles have made it through including a group of mountain bikers in a 4x4 who powered their way through the snow as I was turning around.
9K launch will probably be accessible by mid-may with a bit of warm weather. Mud, ruts and running water included. These days with increased early traffic from both Mtn. Bikers and Flyers, the road does tend to take a beating at this time of year because it is soft and muddy in many sections with frost heaves everywhere. Keep this in mind and drive responsibly if you are heading up.
